Silicon Teens was the world’s first manufactured electronic pop band. The “group” were publicised as a quartet with members named Darryl, Jacki, Paul and Diane, but in reality these individuals did not exist and for media interviews their parts were played by actors, with the band’s lead singer Darryl portrayed by musician Frank Tovey. Tovey did not perform on any Silicon Teens recordings; All vocals were actually provided by Daniel Miller. Originally released in September 1980, Music For Parties was the second ever album to be released on Mute. The album features 14 tracks including Let’s Dance, Memphis Tennessee and You Really Got Me. Called an “undeniably fun record”by AllMusic, Music For Parties is being rereleased as part of Mute’s 40th anti-versary celebrations, MUTE 4.0 (1978 > TOMORROW).
